The final session for this scholastic year of the series of student talks organised by the Office of the Ombudsman, was held at De La Salle College, Cottonera, and involved around 80 students from the College’s Sixth Form. The session, led by the Commissioner for Education, Chief Justice Emeritus Vincent De Gaetano, led to an interesting discussion on the vital role and function of the Ombudsman, on human rights, and on the right to good administration.

This gathering marked the conclusion of a successful series of similar talks aimed at bringing home to Malta’s secondary school and sixth-form students critical information about their civic rights and duties and on the importance of good governance. It also reinforced the Office of the Ombudsman’s commitment to fostering an informed new generation ready to contribute thoughtfully and proactively towards the common good.

The Ombudsman’s Office looks forward to continuing these talks in the coming scholastic year and extending them also to government and other private (non-church) schools.
