The Ombudsman interviewed on 'Mill-Kamra'

In an interview on mill-Kamra on TVMNews+, Ombudsman Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon discussed the significant role of the Ombudsman in Maltese society with journalist Matthew Vella. Judge Zammit McKeon emphasised the Ombudsman’s function as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, providing an accessible and less formal platform for individuals to address their complaints. He highlighted the personalised approach of the Office of the Ombudsman, which helps build public trust. 

The interview covered the respect and recognition the Ombudsman receives from governmental bodies and Parliament, including the investigative processes involved in considering Ombudsman decisions. The Ombudsman suggested enhancing parliamentary scrutiny of these decisions through debate in Parliament or one of its committees.
