During the past few months, the Office of the Ombudsman embarked on an outreach programme focusing on awareness, visibility and interaction with citizens. The first phase of this programme included a completely revamped website giving the public more accessibility, information and providing more online tools.
As part of this outreach programme, in the coming weeks the Office of the Ombudsman will start using social media platforms to engage with public and stakeholders. In order to establish the best practices and procedures adopted by other institutions, our Research and Communications Officer visited the European Ombudsman offices in Brussels and met Mr Benjamin Paul Hagard, Head of the Communication Unit and other Officers working in the unit. The Office of the European Ombudsman actively uses social media to reinforce its strong ties with key influencers and partner organisations to raise awareness amongst the general public regarding the activities and services they provide.
During the visit, other outreach initiatives and areas of collaboration were discussed.
