Preparations underway for upcoming Ombudsmen International Conference: The Right to Good Administration – Myth, Aspiration or Reality?

In preparation for the upcoming conference, ‘The Right to Good Administration – Myth, Aspiration or Reality?’ the Parliamentary Ombudsman, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon, has been holding a series of meetings with leading figures in public policy and law. The Conference will be held in Malta between 31 October and 1 November 2023 and is organised by the Office of the Ombudsman in collaboration with the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsmen (AOM).

Senior Lecturer at the Department of Public Policy at the University of Malta, Dr George Vital Zammit, will act as the rapporteur of the conference. With experience as a Fulbright Scholar and an alumnus of the Salzburg Global Seminar, Dr Zammit’s work focuses on Good Governance, Parliament and Legislation, and Regulatory Policy.

Prof. Edward Warrington will be a keynote speaker, contributing to the Plenary Session on improving relationships between independent State offices and Public Administration. Prof. Warrington, who studied public administration at the University of Malta and political science at the Universities of Toronto and Oxford, brings a wealth of experience in public administration and governance of small island states.

These meetings build on earlier discussions with Dr Ivan Mifsud, Dean of the Faculty of Laws at the University of Malta, and Prof. Kevin Aquilina, a Professor of Law at the same institution.
