Resolved issue: Clearance of burnt refuse collection trucks

Following a complaint lodged with the Office of the Ombudsman, the Commissioner for Environment and Planning brought to the attention of the Environment and Resources Authority the unsightly and environmental detriment presence of four burnt refuse collection trucks left for eight weeks in the outskirts of Mellieħa.  The Commissioner suggested that before taking any action, the authority first confirms with the Courts Registrar as legal impediments may be imposed by the magisterial inquiry.

Upon confirmation that this impediment actually exists, the Commissioner recommended that the authority submit an application to the inquiring Magistrate.  To this effect these trucks were eventually removed within a few days.

This is another case showing not only that actions by the Office of the Ombudsman are proving to be successful but also that this Office is serving as an effective catalyst between various public entities, particularly since this complaint originated during communications with another government entity.
