The Ombudsman participates in a meeting organized by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)

The Ombudsman Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon attended and actively participated in a Meeting of the Technical Working Group on Asset/Interest Declarations on the 18 April 2023 organised by the Commissioner for Standards in Public Life within the context of the mission to Malta organized by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) with the aim of Improving the integrity and transparency framework in Malta. The meeting was presided by Commissioner Chief Justice Emeritus Joseph Azzopardi and was addressed by Policy Analysts from the Public Sector Integrity Division of OECD Pauline Bertrand and Alice Berggrun and also by OECD Consultant Kathryn Stone OBE, who was Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards of the House of Commons from January 2018 until December 2022.

In his submissions during the meeting, the Ombudsman stated that while he was looking forward to have vision of the findings/proposals that will be incorporated in the OECD experts final report, he called for a balanced approach to integrity and transparency issues that are being addressed in the OECD mission to Malta that takes into account the particular circumstances of the country.
